About Stennes Acoustics

Stennes Acoustics is a Knoxville-based acoustical consulting firm that helps clients solve sound problems in existing buildings. We specialize in practical solutions for issues such as excessive reverberation, poor speech intelligibility, mechanical noise, and inadequate sound isolation.

Our work includes offices, churches and worship spaces, restaurants, lecture halls, recording studios, home theaters, multifamily housing, and other spaces where sound matters. Through professionals calibrated measurements, acoustic modeling, and on-site evaluations, we identify the source of acoustic problems and provide clear, cost-effective recommendations tailored to each space.

Whether the goal is improving speech clarity in a sanctuary, making a restaurant quieter, increasing privacy in an office, or reducing sound between apartments, our recommendations are based on objective data and real-world experience.

About Ryan Stennes

Stennes Acoustics was founded by Ryan Stennes, an acoustical engineer with both professional consulting experience and years of hands-on experience working directly with clients.

Ryan earned a Master of Science in Architectural Acoustics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, one of the leading programs in architectural acoustics. After graduate school, he worked as a Graduate Consultant at Arup, an internationally recognized engineering and design firm. There, he contributed to projects including the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, Bank OZK Headquarters, and Book Tower Detroit, gaining experience in room acoustics, impact noise, environmental noise, audiovisual design, and multidisciplinary design.

This combination of engineering knowledge and field experience allows Stennes Acoustics to provide solutions that are technically sound, practical, and realistic to implement.

About Hannah Stennes

Hannah Stennes brings an architectural perspective to the firm. She earned her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and later joined WSDG (Walters-Storyk Design Group), a leading architectural acoustics and recording studio design firm.

At WSDG, Hannah worked on construction documents and architectural details for complex projects involving clients such as Berklee College of Music, Audible, and Drexel University.

Her experience in architecture and construction documentation complements the firm's acoustical consulting by helping ensure that recommendations are practical, buildable, and thoughtfully integrated into each space.

Our Approach

Our goal is simple: help clients create spaces that sound as good as they look.

We provide practical, unbiased acoustical guidance backed by professional analysis, with solutions designed to work in the real world.
